Manufacturing Process
FEPSA's manufacturing process reflects a balance between tradition, technical precision, and quality control. From the initial preparation of fibers to the final inspection, each step is carefully executed to ensure consistency, performance and the distinctive characteristics of each felt product.
01.
Blowing
Fibers are cleaned and separated by airflow, where lighter, high-quality fibers are selected for felting while the heavier ones are removed.
02.
Forming
Fur fibers are evenly distributed onto a rotating cone, forming the initial felt body with controlled weight and uniformity. For 100% wool or cashmere felts, fibers are carded into a uniform web and carefully directed onto a rotating cone, ensuring a consistent felt body with controlled weight and density.
03.
Felting
The initial cone is subjected to controlled heat, moisture, and pressure. During this process, the fibers interlock, forming a dense, cohesive, and stable structure.
04.
Dyeing
The felts are dyed in a wide range of colors and may receive additional treatments to enhance properties such as water resistance or flexibility.
05.
Shaping
The felt bodies are shaped into the desired crown and brim forms, defining the structure, proportions, and identity of the final product.
06.
Finishing
The surface is refined through finishing processes to achieve specific textures and appearances, such as velour, suede, satin, or brushed finishes.
07.
Stiffening
A controlled amount of stiffening agent is applied to the felt body, enhancing its structure, resilience, and shape retention.
08.
Quality Inspection
Each piece undergoes quality inspection to ensure dimensional accuracy, weight consistency, color uniformity and surface quality before packaging and shipment.
