Objectives, activities and expected results:

Fepsa – Portuguese Felts, S.A., is a medium-sized company, located in the municipality of São João da Madeira, which operates in the textile sector, in the manufacture of fur and wool felt hat bodies for hats. It is a unique company in Portugal and an industry leader with around 15 manufacturers of felt hat worldwide. With the present project, under the acronym «NanoFelt» and «New generation of innovative fiber-based felt structures using nanotechnology», the company intends to develop a new generation of high-quality innovative fiber-based felt structures. Performance, combined with animal hair protein fibers, for application in textile products mainly oriented for fashion, health and wellness applications using advanced functionalization techniques, surface functionalization of fibrous materials and new branch-shaped structures.
