Meet the Team | Forming Section

At FEPSA, the Forming Section is where the fur begins to take shape.

Managed across four shifts by Diogo Silva, Telmo Correia and Sérgio Lima, this stage ensures continuous operation and consistent quality throughout the process.

After the Blowing stage, the fur moves into Forming, where it is transformed into an initial conical structure, the foundation of the felt hat. Through a controlled suction process, the fibers are projected and deposited onto metal cone molds of different sizes and shapes, depending on the desired product.

Although highly automated, this stage requires precision and careful handling. The fibers must be evenly distributed to ensure uniform felt quality and because the material is still fragile at this point, removing it from the mold demands particular attention.
